The messages I got after raising concerns were the most troubling part. Management threatened to involve authorities and pressured me not to leave a negative review. Communication felt hostile and unprofessional. (See attached) Getting into the property was a mess too. I never properly received the reservation or access details, and spent a long time trying codes on the 8+ lock boxes because there’s no check-in office. I ended up calling management for help. They blamed Expedia and said fixing their communication problems was my responsibility instead of handling it professionally. The listing and photos gave a misleading impression. Yonegan Central Maui Getaway is in a town area behind a Chinese restaurant, not near the beach, and the entrance felt confusing and sketchy on arrival. There are much better places to stay in Maui at similar prices. I would not book here again.

I booked five nights and left just an hour after checking in, the shortest stay ever. The room smelled musty and wasn’t well kept. Thin, uninsulated walls also made the place seem unsafe. I cancelled and requested a refund, but be aware you only get 50% of your payment back in these circumstances. If you want a cheap stay but still care about hygiene and safety, pay a little more and go somewhere else.

I needed somewhere quick after a late flight in from Alaska. The room was small, but clean, and it didn’t cost me $500.00. The AC worked and the shower was decent. It’s not the Ritz, but they don’t claim it is.

The only good thing was that service ran 24/7, so you could check in after midnight. The room had bunk beds and worn-out sheets. The AC was in the bathroom by the toilet, which is a strange setup, and it didn’t cool the room enough. You had to leave the bathroom door open to get any AC into the room. Honestly, staying here was the worst part of my trip. On the plus side, you wake up to hens going kokorokoo, and leave feeling like a true Hawaiian.
