Snow Chasers Lodge

As a woman traveling alone after flying into Minneapolis, this is the safest I’ve felt so far. The outside looks plain and there’s no front desk, but the state police are just down the street. The unlocked coffee and drink station and the beer cozie selection make it seem like theft isn’t a problem in this town, which feels like a gem. It’s not a quiet hotel. You can hear other guests talking, and there’s a party room that gets loud. Still, the bed is super comfy and the sheets are nice. It has a good-things-happen feeling, a bit like grandma’s house, with a 1950 avocado tub and uncle Bob drinking coffee in the kitchen at 6 a.m.

The deck and game room were great, and finding pizza in the freezer was a nice treat. The blueberry muffin in the morning was delicious, and staff were helpful. The lodge is beautiful and clean, with trails super close by. It was just right for my first SXS trip, and I can’t wait to come back in winter.

Great access to the phenomenal trails, which made this a good place to base ourselves while riding around the area. The rooms were clean, and the beds and pillows were comfortable. The muffins are five-star too. We’ll stay here every time we’re in the UP.

It was very quiet during our off-season stay. Check-in was easy, the rooms were clean, and the lodge and bar area had a cool feel to it. We spent a lot of time there hanging out by ourselves, listening to music and playing games. I’d stay again.
