Best Western Plains Motel

The teens enjoyed the pool and hot tub, and staying here let us spend longer in the Badlands. Getting up early for sunrise was easy, too. This was our second stay in ten years, and I like being able to park right outside the ground-floor room. The room smelled musty at first, but airing it out while we unpacked helped, and the window opened all the way. The bathroom is very tight: the toilet and shower are in there, while the sink is outside.

The breakfast area was kept neat and clean by the nice woman working there, and there were friendly faces in the lobby. Our room was very clean and the beds were comfortable. You can see how much pride this family has put into the hotel over the years. We'll stay again. Keep it up 👍

Being close to the Badlands is the only real plus for me. The rooms are very old and badly need updating, and the bathroom is so cramped you can hardly turn around. It didn't seem especially clean either. Breakfast was barely okay. The oats were watery and there weren't many other choices. I wouldn't stay here again. I'd probably just drive back to Rapid City.

I got in after 10 p.m. and found a clean, modern room that definitely didn't feel like an old motel. Breakfast was very good, and the cheerful employee in the breakfast area even helped clear tables after people finished. Among the nearby motels, this one stands out as clearly better. Some of the others looked downright sketchy. I usually avoid places where the rooms open directly outside because I like the thought of extra security between me and my door. Wall, SD doesn't have many options, though, so I chose this one.
