Holiday Inn Express & Suites Wapakoneta by IHG

The staff were INCREDIBLY nice every time we dealt with them, and they tried to get the kids back to their rooms after I called about the noise. Still, we got no sleep. A family with several children and rooms seemed to leave the kids unsupervised as they ran around, yelled, and slammed doors from 10p-12:30am. We’d stayed here for our wedding in 2019, when it looked newly renovated and well cared for. This time, on 12/26, the room seemed dirty. The walls looked gross, including something unpleasant by the couch, and the bathtub drained slowly. My husband removed the stopper and found it covered in hair. Cleanliness was maybe a 2-3/5. With small children, that made us uncomfortable, and the noise added to our frustration. It wasn’t the staff’s fault, and noise can happen in hotels, but combined with the cleanliness it made for a rough stay. We usually stay in Airbnbs in Wapak, but wanted to try the hotel.

The stray cat crying in the parking lot was the saddest part of the stay, which says a lot. The staff were very nice, but the room was awful. My feet were filthy after showering and walking on the carpet, and then I spotted nail clippings on the floor. It smelled musty, the sink and shower wouldn’t drain, and lifting the shower stopper revealed a hair clump that nearly made me throw up. The bed felt like cardboard, so I slept badly too. My coworker had a similarly bad room. I travel a lot for work, and this was the worst Holiday Inn Express I’ve ever seen. It was the only hotel around, so next time I’ll drive an hour each way to find somewhere better around Dayton.

The hotel was clean, the beds were comfortable, and breakfast was very good. The staff were kind and accommodating too. I’ll definitely come back when I visit my daughter, and would recommend staying here.

I enjoyed staying here and would come back. The rooms were spacious and very clean, breakfast was delicious, and the staff were exceptionally friendly and helpful throughout my stay.
