Hawthorn Suites By Wyndham Detroit Warren

The front desk staff were professional and helpful, and the central location was convenient. There was plenty of space for my family of five. I did find leftover water bottles and small bits of trash under the bed and couch, so those areas could have been cleaned better. Still, it was a good stay and I'd come back.

We got what we paid for. The room was okay, though a little unpolished, and the outside stairwell had bits of trash around. Breakfast wasn't as extensive as at other places, but there was enough. My main issue was that we left in the morning with the do not disturb sign up, then returned around seven to find staff cleaning our room. We had to wait awkwardly for 5 or 10 minutes while they finished. They'd also touched and moved our belongings, apparently trying to tidy them for us. Even people I know don't have my permission to handle my things, so I was really unhappy that staff came in despite the sign. They seemed nice, but I didn't appreciate this.

The staff were super awesome, and the complimentary continental breakfast was good. Our first room smelled strongly of cigarettes even though this is supposed to be a non-smoking facility, so I asked to change rooms. The second was much better, but on the second night I heard dripping as I was about to shower and saw water leaking from the second floor through the light fixture above the shower. It was a decent place to stay otherwise.

The front desk welcomed us warmly, and we had a clean, spacious room with a comfortable bed and nice towels in a quiet location. The $10 pet fee was great. The pool was clean, though too cold to swim. Because of COVID restrictions, breakfast came in a bag instead of as a continental spread, and it was lacking.
