Motel 6 Warren, MI - Detroit East

I stayed a few weeks to save money. The staff were friendly and helpful, and the Black American gentleman at the front desk who checked me out was especially good at customer service and solving problems. It was quiet, felt safe, and was close to everything. I also liked the newer TVs and appliances, and the free coffee. The room itself was a different story. It wasn't very clean, the bedding was awful, and I had to scrub the place down and use my own sheets. By the third week, I was seeing bugs. The rooms and bathrooms need updating, and even power-washing the windows and replacing the bedding would help. It wasn't horrible and did what I needed at the time, which is why I gave it three stars, but cleanliness and upkeep need work.

I stayed at this motel in Warren from 7/31/25-10/31/25 because it was all I could afford, and I hope sharing this helps someone avoid the same experience. Cockroaches were crawling on the walls in my room by the fourth day. I also saw them in the laundry room and near the vending machines by the office. Staff seemed to know about the problem already. Google reviews made it look like this had been going on for years. When I asked maintenance to spray or do anything, staff gave me attitude and brushed me off. I spent $40 a week on traps and spray, and neighbors were doing the same. There was only one working washer, and the dryer needed to run three times for one load. When I asked housekeeping to change my sheets, they handed me fresh ones and told me to do it myself. Staff gathered at the back of the motel each morning to smoke and talk about guests. At checkout, someone inspected my room and photographed issues that were there before I arrived. They tried every pathetic way to keep my $100 cash deposit. I can't believe this place is still open. I'd give it negative 5 stars if I could.

It's a quick, cheap place, but I've stayed at better M6s. This one needs a lot of work. The cockroaches were obvious and distracting, so after checking in and taking a shower, I went out to buy RAID. The desk clerk was nice and helpful, and I don't blame him for the bugs. It's a three-story building with lots of rooms if you really need one.

The room wasn't well maintained, and I would've needed to clean it myself to feel comfortable staying there. The front desk started out polite and nice, but by the next morning they seemed like completely different people and were very unprofessional.
