Depe Dene Lakeside Resort

We had a two-bedroom suite by the pool, and the heated pool was especially welcome on a cold Memorial Day weekend. The kitchen had plenty of supplies, the bathroom was roomy, and the deck was well kept with comfortable seats and a big table. Little ones can enjoy the playground and arcade, and the staff were helpful and friendly. The blinds let in too much early morning light, so curtains in the bedrooms would be a nice improvement. It's a well-maintained little resort with what you need.

The lakefront location was great, and our unit was quiet and very clean, though smaller than I expected. The staff were courteous and dealt with our concerns promptly and respectfully. We had booked a two-queen lakefront efficiency, but both beds were much too firm and squeaked whenever either of us moved. Staff tried to address that, but the problem wasn't fixed. The bathroom also felt very dated. Softer beds would've made the stay much better.

The views are stunning, and there are roomy docks for fishing or sightseeing. The beach is small, though I read it's the largest among Lake George resorts. I worried about my family's allergies after seeing a review with a photo of mold in an AC unit, but our room was quite different and the AC units looked recently updated. We did have bees getting into our cabin. Staff responded quickly, found the nest, and sprayed around the area during the day. The maintenance worker came back when I called about more bees, removed them, and left us a swatter. They offered another room, but we declined once we felt more comfortable. The location earns five stars if you'd rather stay away from the Lake George strip. We didn't try the restaurant, and it was closed one night when we hoped to order room service. Aside from that, we had a very positive stay and I'd gladly return.

The private beach was a favorite, and I liked that the cabins are near town without being right in the middle of it, so you can enjoy the lake. Our cabin had a full kitchen, a roomy living area, its own porch, and really comfortable beds. The shower had strong pressure and plenty of hot water. Everything was clean and friendly, and we had such a good stay that we definitely want to come back and spend more time here.
