The front desk woman was very nice when we checked in, and the room looked great except for the bathroom. The tub’s paint or coating was peeling all over. The bathroom door wouldn’t close because screws were coming out of the hinges, which were rusty. I’ve stayed at other Motel 6 hotels, but never in a room where the bathroom looked like it was being renovated. We had booked one night before an event my daughter had the next day.

The check-in and checkout process was long and difficult, and we didn’t get the room time we paid for. We arrived an hour after the posted check-in time and were told to wait 40 to 50 minutes. We sat in the car, where our cold food went bad. After 50 minutes, the desk said it would be another 15. We finally got into the room more than two hours after check-in was supposed to start. They then asked for a card even though we’d paid online through PayPal; after going back and forth, we got them to understand they didn’t need it. I also paid a $50 cash deposit that was supposed to be returned at checkout. I watched the staff member scramble for scrap paper and write it down in colored pencil, so I had no confidence it was properly tracked. No one told us there were two buildings. We hauled our luggage around the first one, then had to reload the car and drive to the second. At checkout, after we explained what had happened, they offered no refund for the two hours we’d paid for but couldn’t use the room. They said we could leave before returning the $50, so we had to remind them. I wonder how much they make by “forgetting” to remind people. The rooms were also in poor condition and there was no microwave. Motel 6 usually meets a minimum standard for me, but this stay has me reconsidering that. They made us pay for the 3-5pm time even though our room wasn’t ready until after 5. With the poor facilities and customer service, don’t stay here if you’re in the area.

The grounds were clean and well maintained, and the staff were pleasant. My room was clean, and there was no extra charge for my dog. There was highway noise, as expected. For a value motel, there wasn’t a bunch of riffraff around, though maybe we happened to be there on the right weekend. It’s basic and not the Ritz, but the price is great and I’ll come back if my usual place with a pool isn’t available. My 8-year-old insists on having a pool. With realistic expectations, you shouldn’t be disappointed.

During the four weeks I stayed, my room was cleaned only twice. The housekeeper would ask to come in and look around, even when the room badly needed cleaning, fresh bedding, and towels, but that work didn’t happen. I was told to leave used towels outside the door for replacements, then they sat on the ground there for 12 hours. On the one or two occasions when the housekeeper did clean, she went through my things. I paid $415 for seven days, and thought that would mean some privacy and cleanliness. There were issues in the room when I arrived that I overlooked because it seemed clean. I’ve stayed in enough hotels to know housekeeping shouldn’t dictate how you keep your room. I wouldn’t recommend this place.

My first stay here was awesome, which is why I came back. This time the room had black-stained towels and rags, sheets laid over the bed like a blanket, and a roach coming out of the wall. I guess the rooms are clean in some sense, but my later rooms were a total mess. The receptionist was rude, and the manager wasn’t friendly either. I was there for work, and the heater didn’t work. They also put me beside a room with a dog that barked and whined. If I check in without a pet, put me somewhere without pets. I had to extend my stay by one day and paid over the phone the day before. Still, around 2:30pm the next day, I got a call asking whether I was extending, even though checkout is at 11. I was confused and ended up in a heated argument with the manager about why they were calling so late to ask for payment, when my reservation and card details were in the system and I’d been told I was charged the previous day. That last stay was a hot mess. It was a joke, and I could go on and on.
