Hampton Inn Washington DC NoMa Union Station

It's easy to get an uber or lyft, and we found getting to and from Echostage for a concert very easy, safe, and cheap. There are a few bars and restaurants within walking distance too. The hotel was very clean and the staff were so kind. The young woman and man working the lobby afternoon/night shift on 12/29 DESERVE A RAISE! They were really sweet and polite.

We were moved three times in one day, and the whole thing was a huge inconvenience. Our first room had mold on the bathroom ceiling, so we got keys for the room below. In the second room, the water handle was broken: water only came on when pushed in, wouldn't turn off, and the handle just spun. We called maintenance, but they didn't return quickly, so my friend and I left for the concert we were in town to see, because we didn't want to be late for Chris Brown. When we came back, our door was open. We'd closed it before leaving. There was a large footprint on the white bathroom towel and another by the front door, so we assumed maintenance had been in. The front desk manager confirmed that one of the maintenance men had entered our room, and that camera footage showed he hadn't closed the door. She said she'd talk to him about it for next time. The handle still wasn't fixed, and our belongings seemed untouched, but someone had been in and left the door open. We complained, and they moved us again to another room in the hotel across the lot/side of the building. We wanted to share this in case someone was wondering about safety. We booked through a third-party site, so I couldn't get our money back and decided to leave a review instead.

The pool is being renovated, and the verandas shown in the hotel photos are off limits. That's my only complaint. The hotel itself is beautiful, with clean, comfortable rooms, and it was pretty quiet despite our room facing the street. I only heard a few noises overnight. Maria went above and beyond. We came in on Amtrak and I'd left my ID in the car back home, but she helped me check in with a photo of it. The staff were friendly and accommodating, and the shuttle runs to and from Union Station. Breakfast alone was worth the price: fresh cut fruit, pastries, waffles, eggs both scrambled and hard boiled, potatoes O'Brien, oatmeal, juices, and more. The beds were comfy, there were plenty of outlets, and the elevator was super fast. They held our bags after checkout so we could go sightseeing, and let us wait in the lobby until we could head to Amtrak at 3 pm. Really above and beyond. If you like pizza and that sort of thing, I'd highly suggest NY Pizza Grill. Delicious.

The WiFi instructions were clear, but we couldn't get online during our stay, and the front desk couldn't fix it. Maybe it was just our room, though the spotty 5G reception in the area didn't help. Even so, the room was clean, comfortable, and had everything we needed for two nights. We stayed with my sibling for a short vacation and appreciated being allowed into our room well before the official check-in time. Staff at reception were friendly, and they told us about the free shuttle. It runs 8am - 6pm on weekdays and 10am - 6pm on weekends, with pick-ups and drop-offs within a one-mile radius, including NoMa Metro Station, Union Station, and the National Children’s Hospital. Union Market is nearby, in a lively area with lots of great food, and buses make it easy to get to DC attractions. Despite the internet trouble, it was a comfortable, reliable base for our DC adventures. I'd still recommend it for the service, location, and convenience.
