ROOST White House

Five of us came across the country and made full use of the hotel amenities, including the washer and dryer as soon as we arrived. The rooftop views were amazing, and the staff were so kind and attentive. It was a wonderful experience, and I’ll definitely stay here again.

The staff made a big difference when several things went wrong in our unit, where we were the first guests. The dishwasher flooded, the washer didn’t work at first, and the phone wasn’t working. Hassan, Juliana, Shannon, and Khadija kept us updated and helped resolve each problem. Those hiccups felt minor next to the customer service and quality of the stay. My family and I had stayed at the Roost in Detroit, so we were eager to try The Roost White House in DC, and it didn’t disappoint. The rooms were clean, spacious, modern, and well equipped. It’s a unique property, and I think it’ll become a mainstay in the DC area as it settles in. We’ll return, and I recommend choosing the Roost if you’re in town.

We really wanted to love The Roost, but there were several problems, including a disgusting discovery in the washing machine on checkout morning. I had washed a load so we could go home with clean clothes, then found a stranger’s shirt and a used condom mixed in with our laundry when I moved it to the dryer. It made us worry that rooms aren’t being properly cleaned between guests. We’ll wash everything again at home and won’t stay at one of these properties again. Earlier in the stay, we asked for an iron and ironing board but were told they only had an iron. The plant in our room was dead and smelled bad. One bedside lamp didn’t work, and although I asked the front desk to have someone check it, nobody came. A previous guest had put the burr in the coffee maker upside down, and fixing it took a lot of time.

The room was spacious, clean, and quiet at night, and the kitchen was great. Having laundry right in the unit was handy. Staff were friendly when we arrived and made check-in and checkout easy. Fantastic hotel, I’d definitely stay again.
