The Elmwood

This is our go-to hotel whenever we visit Maine. It's centrally located just off the interstate and easy to find. We had a wonderful stay, with clean rooms, friendly and accommodating staff, and quick, hassle-free check-in.

The coffee, Carabassett Coffee Company, was excellent, and the staff were really friendly. The motel is very nice, with modern, fresh, clean rooms, super comfy beds, and a lovely shower with nice shampoo and conditioner. I'd definitely stay again.

I was traveling alone as a woman and wouldn't recommend this hotel for that reason alone: there's no safety latch on the door, just a deadbolt, and no peephole to check before opening it. I'd give the room 3.5 if that were an option, but I don't think the hotel earns four stars with this notable safety concern.

We stopped here during a loooong drive to Nova Scotia and were joyously surprised by the service and accommodations. We'd worried about arriving late, so we called ahead and spoke with Barbara. She was so kind, said she worked all night, and assured us she'd be there to greet us and get us into our room. She also helped us find a place to store our bicycles, which had been on the back of the car. Exceedingly helpful and kind. The room was extremely clean and good quality, with a quiet refrigerator and AC/heater, a steamy shower stall, working television, great lighting, and plenty of charging cables everywhere. In the morning, Phoenix at the daytime front desk was just as kind and accommodating as Barbara had been the night before. We couldn't believe how great the coffee was. We absolutely loved this spot and will definitely return next time we're staying in this part of Maine.
