Americas Best Value Inn & Suites Waukegan Gurnee

Roaches were crawling all over the place, and the service was very rude. The city should inspect this motel for what seems like a serious cockroach infestation. I’m still dealing with flu symptoms.

The second room had a leak in the ceiling corner and still smelled funny, but we were exhausted and slept there before moving to another hotel in the morning. At least its door handle worked. In the first room, the handle was broken and the inside lock wouldn’t turn fully, so I couldn’t tell if the door could be opened from inside. It smelled of freshly lit cigarettes, and when I asked to switch rooms, I was told none were available. I considered asking for a refund and leaving, but my son was too tired. Then my son went to use the bathroom and found feces in the toilet. He flushed, it clogged, and started overflowing. We called the front desk right away. The man asked if I could shut off the water, but I refused to walk through someone else’s poop water. He eventually offered another room, saying someone had just left, which made me wonder how there was suddenly one available. The rooms were kind of gross, and the guy working there was very rude. If you’re there to party and do drugs, it may be cheap, but I absolutely wouldn’t recommend it for a good night’s sleep or a stay with kids.

I tried two different credit cards, but they couldn’t process either one. When I checked my bank account, there hadn’t even been an attempt to charge either card.

I was a little uneasy after reading the reviews, but our stay turned out very well. The room was clean and the beds comfortable. I’m picky and notice details, and I work at a motel in Canaan Valley,WV. I wouldn’t stay somewhere I thought was unsafe or unclean. We were visiting for our son-in-law’s Navy boot camp graduation. Richard checked us in and was really nice. He readily brought extra blankets and a pillow, and the other front desk employees we spoke with were just as helpful and friendly. They had great attitudes and joked with us. They treated my family the way I treat my own guests.
