Motel 6 Webster, TX - Houston - Nasa Lake

The pool was clean and working, and there's a Waffle House right next door. There aren't many amenities beyond ice, vending and laundry, but of all the Motel 6 places I've stayed, this one was easily the cleanest and best.

I'm homeless and still wouldn't spend my own money here. The only good thing was the hot water. The regular rooms didn't have the amenities listed online, the key cards barely worked, and I got locked out three times in two days. Staff were rude, and the cleaning ladies kept bothering me to leave well before checkout. The sheets were stained too. I've stayed at some really shifty hotels, but this was by far the worst.

The light fixture in my room leaked water, the A/C kept switching itself on and off, and neither the TV nor Wi-Fi worked. The power was out for a long time, I couldn't get more towels when I asked, kids were left unsupervised, and there was dog poop everywhere. My daughter got sick after our first night. I still wouldn't recommend the place, even though I can see why people stayed that busy weekend: some didn't want to be freezing at home and some were homeless. I spoke to another woman about her stay and heard that plenty of people were unhappy too. The way I understand it, conversations aren't documented, so when you complain to higher-ups looking for a resolution, they can say it never happened or there is no record of it. It also looks like the place may have been out of business before new management took over. I've completely lost faith in it.

A few friends and I stayed for several days and had no issues. The parking lot and grassy area were extremely clean, and the front desk clerks were friendly, even at 3:30 in the morning when they had to open the door for us to get to the vending machines. Police patrol cars park across the street to monitor traffic, so they're often around. That might be reassuring for some guests and a nuisance for others.
