Pillow Talk Motel

What makes this place feel like more than a basic motel is how the owners treat you. They’ve been kind, flexible, and genuinely helpful with our situation. I feel like an actual person here, which I haven’t felt in a long time. It’s affordable, and the management understands working people. Everyone seems respectful and quiet, so it’s easy to relax mentally and physically. The rooms are simple, with no kitchenette or pool, but they’re clean and have what you need: a comfy bed, fluffy new pillows, microwave, mini-fridge, big flat-screen TV with DirecTV and movie channels, and free Wi-Fi. There aren’t staff or maids knocking and waking you up, but if you need something, the owners are right there and happy to help. I take back calling it plain and simple. It’s a lot more than that.

I’m here because I’m between places, and the animals are allowed and nobody bothers you. Just know you’re on your own for upkeep. You get toilet paper and clean towels at first, but there are no housekeepers bringing more or cleaning the room. You’re expected to be your own maid and wash the bedding. My room is freezing, almost unbearably cold. There’s no weather stripping under the door, and the heat is an old furnace with no thermostat. It’s $250 a week or $850 a month, which feels really high for what this is. Unfortunately, it’s still much cheaper than any other lodging available right now. If you don’t care where you sleep, it may work for you.

Quiet, small, cozy, and comfortable, with no frills. The room was nice, and at $37 a night it was a great bargain. They’re pet friendly, which I liked so much that I went to the animal shelter and adopted a dog. The owner was outside with his son, who was playing with the dog. Good people.

They gave me a room with no blanket even though it was 45 degrees outside.
