Sunset Lodge Escanaba

We’d stayed here two years in a row and liked the small-business feel, and we met friendly people. But we couldn’t find rates and there was little availability. When we called to ask about pricing, they hung up on us twice. Since we can’t get answers, I’ll take my business elsewhere and guess we won’t be back.

The highway location may not work for you if you dislike staying next to one, but we found it easy to reach and not too noisy. The room was clean, up to date, and comfortable, with a huge shower, strong water pressure, and plenty of hot water. Front desk staff were very welcoming to us and our dog. We’d definitely stay again.

I’ve stayed at plenty of roadside motels over the years, and Sunset Lodge is the best one I’ve found in decades. My room was spotless and simple, with a really comfortable bed and a new air conditioner that had thermostat controls. The staff were pleasant and helpful, as usual. It’s not a fancy five-star place, but it keeps getting a little better each time I come. I’d gladly recommend Sunset Lodge.

Inside, the room was lovely, clean, and nicely remodeled, with a beautiful new shower and no bathtub. The sink slopes enough that the soap slides into it unless you tuck it behind the faucet, and there’s no bathroom fan. Outside, the area smells like sewage, and the motel sits by a very busy, noisy highway, though it is on a frontage road. Still, this is a lovely motel.
