Best Western Chieftain Inn

There were spiders on the bed, stained sheets, dirty pillowcases, and only two small towels, one of them okay. The doors don’t close all the way because of the screws, so they don’t actually lock the way card-key doors should. While we were checking in, a homeless drug addict was stuffing breakfast items into his pockets and making coffee. I think the front desk girl was focused on him more than on check-in, though she was very kind. As an IHG Diamond member, I wasn’t offered a first-floor room or water, and nobody thanked me for being a member. This one was a bit of a bummer. We usually stay at Best Western wherever we go.

Rooms and parking were great, but don’t have packages sent to this hotel. My Amazon package was stolen by staff, they said they didn’t have it when I asked, then two days later it showed up opened in a different box. Apparently thieves run this place, so keep your valuables safe.

The room was fine, and the woman who checked us in was nice. But we stayed for three days and the room was never cleaned. We only had two towels and had to track down a maid somewhere in the hotel whenever we needed more. When I asked the man at the desk for an extra towel, he said he didn’t have any and told me to “go find a maid.” I’m not sure why that was my responsibility. I’ll probably stay somewhere else next time unless I have no other choice.

The location was very good, and the room and bed were comfortable. Breakfast was the usual Best Western fare and was fine. I gave it three stars because pool and hot tub access were advertised, but a card handed out on arrival said the pool was closed for the season and listed hot tub hours. When I checked, both the pool and hot tub were undergoing extensive remodeling and repair, and wouldn’t be available for some time. That was disappointing.
