Pacific Stay Hotel

The staff were a big plus, super friendly and accommodating. We could hear the highway from our room, so it wasn’t especially quiet, but I actually found the background sound soothing. That might not work for everyone. The room itself was clean and spacious, if a bit dated, with nothing else I’d call a problem. The bathroom needs more attention, though. The shower whistled on our first morning and maintenance fixed it, but it still made for a bad start. The vanity is tiny, and the toilet paper holder is in an awkward spot.

I have skin sensitivities and react badly to chemicals and fragrance. I asked the housekeepers if I could clean my own room with a natural cleaner during my stay so I wouldn’t have a reaction, but they declined. It’s awful that the hotel wouldn’t make such a simple accommodation. Fabuloso isn’t really a cleaner, as it says nothing about killing bacteria or germs. It’s a fragrance that’s toxic to people and pets.

I stayed here six weekends in October and November. The staff were excellent, help came right away when I needed it, and check-in and checkout were always easy. The Business Center was useful too. I do plan to return, though my last stay left me feeling pushed and still doesn’t sit right. I was taking my things out in two trips. On the first trip, a woman cleaning rooms on my floor, wearing a mask, asked several times if I was checking out. I said yes, but that I had more stuff. I wasn’t sure she understood. When I came back for the last load, she and a male employee collecting her dirty linens were waiting outside my room. I had the do not disturb sign up, so I don’t think they’d gone in, but I can’t be sure. As soon as I opened the door, she came in behind me and started stripping the bedding. She kept apologizing, but the whole thing felt really uncomfortable. It was strange.

There’s so much to do in every direction, and this is a great place to stay. You won’t be disappointed if you book here.
