Super 8 By Wyndham Monroe West

I paid for two nights, but housekeeping knocked on the door at 9:30 both mornings even though checkout was at 11. I've never felt so rushed at a hotel. The room had an old French fry caught in the bed frame, cracked sink, and a toilet that didn't flush well, with a large crack in the tank covered by a seal. There were no outlets except by the door. The door wouldn't close either, and I had to call to get it fixed. My son and I won't be back.

After seeing all the mixed reviews, I was hesitant, but I went ahead and booked one night. It's a basic budget motel, pretty much like other Super 8s: nothing special, nothing terrible. The bed was clean and the shower was hot, which was enough after a long travel day. There are smoking and non-smoking rooms, a rare choice in 2025. The back rooms were quiet, with little highway noise, and there's plenty of parking for trucks and trailers. A Mexican restaurant and Walmart are nearby. The carpet could use a deep clean, and the furnishings have that dated Super 8 look. A decent four out of five. I'd stay again, though your mileage may vary.

I've been living here long term, and the past six months have been really good. The managers and service staff make people feel at home, and the rooms are spacious with a good layout. Super 8 works for short stays too, and it's in a prime spot for goods and services. I'd recommend this location for travel or other needs.

The total came to $200, $109 for the room and $100 for insurance that I was supposed to get back. I still haven't received it, and the hotel keeps giving me the runaround. Negative out of five!
