Francis Scott Key Family Resort

My father-in-law visited Francis Scott Key as a kid, and now my wife and I are bringing our own children. It’s a great family place, conveniently near everything we wanted, including EV fast chargers. When it rained, the resort put on a cozy movie night with free popcorn. The little pond was a nice place to unwind, and we especially liked the outdoor pool bar. The bartender was friendly and made excellent drinks. One small suggestion for the indoor pool bar: a fryer might help, since the chicken fingers looked more like breaded cauliflower than chicken. That’s just an idea, not a complaint. And if food prices come up, keep in mind it’s a resort in a tourist destination. We had an amazing stay as a family of five. It feels like home and carries on the family tradition. We’ll definitely return.

The only real drawback is that the beach isn’t within walking distance. The bus into Ocean City made getting to the beach and boardwalk easy, and there are two pools, mini golf, and a theater showing two movies at different times. Plenty here to help you relax. The room had been renovated, and the desk staff were friendly and helpful.

There’s a lot for families to do here, including indoor and outdoor pools, mini golf, a playground, basketball hoops, and a little movie theater. We came with four kids for our first visit, and it was great. It’s clearly family-oriented, with good potential for more family activities. Our room was on the second floor of the Carolinas building. The hotel isn’t especially upscale or updated, the beds were a little hard, and we could hear the people next door, though it didn’t bother us much. The building could use fresh paint. The good points outweighed the drawbacks, and we’ll come again.

We came in the off-season and everything went smoothly. The room was clean, and the location was great: just outside Ocean City but right next to it. The shuttle to and from the beach saves you from paying for parking, which is a major plus. There are two pools, including an indoor one where you can take the kids if it rains. I’d definitely recommend it for families.
