Courtyard by Marriott West Palm Beach Airport

The staff were helpful and nice, with no complaints there. The location is convenient for the airport and nearby necessities, though being right next to I95 also means dealing with the noise. Inside, the hotel has a strong musty smell from the moment you enter the lobby, and it gets worse in the hallways and rooms. The rooms look like they haven’t been renovated in a long time, with obvious wear on the furniture. The bathroom needs work too: the spigot is loose in the wall, the soap shelves are tilted so the soap slides off, and the whole space feels like it hasn’t been updated in a decade or more.

Our rooms weren’t comfortable: mine smelled strongly of mildew, the refrigerator froze all my food, and there was no couch or enough space for our belongings. I was there with other JetBlue flight attendants after the company changed our hotel at the last minute. JetBlue arranged and paid for the rooms and checkout times. We had no control over the booking or schedule and were following the assignments we were given. The next morning, there seemed to be confusion about checkout. Instead of sorting it out with the appropriate department at JetBlue, staff, especially manager Hector, confronted us aggressively and unprofessionally. They called repeatedly, banged on our doors, and demanded that we leave right away. In one frightening instance, a staff member tried to force a door open while a crew member was still inside. That was completely inappropriate. If there was a billing or scheduling problem, it should have been handled with JetBlue. We had no say in those arrangements, and it was unfair to target us over something outside our control. The poor room conditions and the manager’s handling of the situation left us feeling harassed, disrespected, and unsupported. It was a very distressing stay.

The room felt like it belonged to my grandparents’ time. The furniture was chipped, the phone had only half its buttons, and everything seemed old or broken. The hotel smelled bad, with what seemed like too much air freshener or perfume being used to cover the worn carpets and old furniture. I didn’t expect this from Marriott. The place badly needs renovation.

For a hotel costing over $300 a night, the cleanliness and quality were nowhere near what I expected. The bathrooms were deteriorating, and the bedroom carpet had so many stains that we wouldn’t walk barefoot on it. Maybe that’s just the going price in Palm Beach and they can charge it, but there must be cleaner places for the same money.
