Staybridge Suites West Seneca by IHG

This place doesn’t feel like it deserves the price, or the Staybridge name. It should be downgraded to a cheap, no-frills hotel. There were problems everywhere, with things dirty, broken, or worse than at other Staybridge locations. Both elevators were out, even though our room was on the fifth floor. Water was dripping from the corridor ceiling into a large bin that was already half full, despite there having been no recent storm. It was probably a plumbing leak. Baseboards in common areas were broken, and the breakfast tables were chipped. The pool had no hot tub, and there were no towels available. The gym machines were broken, and the snowy parking lot hadn’t been cleared promptly even though there had been no snowstorm for a couple of days. We also waited several minutes for someone to check us in. There was no one at the desk and no bell to ring. The staff weren’t welcoming or courteous.

I spent four days here a few weeks ago and found it comfortable for a longer visit. The kitchenette had a large fridge and freezer plus a cooking plate, and two grocery stores were within walking distance. Breakfast was served each morning, and there’s a small gym and laundry room. Monday through Thursday, they also have a happy hour with free alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks and appetizers. It seemed like a good chance to meet and network with other guests. A solid option for an extended stay.

I waited 20 minutes to check in while the person ahead of me struggled to get help from the front desk agent. She went to ask the woman in the back four times, and that woman seemed incredibly lazy, like she wouldn’t get out of her seat even if the hotel were on fire. Then they lost my reservation and said they couldn’t find it because the hotel was full, even though I could see three rooms available online. The place looked run down, and those two at the desk summed up the whole atmosphere. I went across the street and got checked in within 30 seconds.

Friendly staff and great rooms. There’s free laundry and a full-size fridge, plus two supermarkets across the street. If you’re staying longer than a week, this is the hotel for you.
