The Ricardo Marriott DFW Westlake Hotel

The staff and managers made this trip feel special. They worked together, checked in on us, and went out of their way to make things comfortable. I was there with my toddler twins while joining my husband on a work trip in January, and they hosted his corporate event fantastically. Everything was organized, the renovation looked classy and modern, and we weren’t disturbed by construction. The hotel’s elegant look, Christmas tree, and holiday decor were beautiful, and the front desk kindly offered to help me take gorgeous pictures of the kids. Food was beyond delicious, the bed was comfortable, and I loved the hot cocoa station with peppermint candy canes by the fire. We felt like VIPs, especially thanks to the kind, genuine servers at Solana Kitchen and Lounge. The new cafe is worth a coffee or latte. We were impressed by everything and sad to leave.

Comfortable rooms and friendly service make this a good fit for a visiting technical manager. The rideshare apps keep sending me to the wrong drop-off spot, though, so that costs it a star.

It looks nice, which is what caught our attention, but it wasn’t worth it. Parking is all paid, and if you use valet, expect rude employees and plan to request your car 30-45 minutes ahead. The showers drain so badly that you have to wait between showers or it turns into a tub. There’s no free WiFi, and service is poor in much of the hotel unless you’re outside. We paid $20 a day per device, and that WiFi was still so bad I couldn’t work without getting disconnected. The hot tub doesn’t work either, and apparently they don’t care enough to fix it.

I was there for the event, not as a hotel guest, and didn’t visit any of the rooms. Based on the part of the hotel I saw, I’m giving the rooms five stars. They did a wonderful job hosting the event, the food was good, and everything was really nice.
