Express Inn

We came back from dinner about two hours after checking in and found that the toilet wasn’t working properly. They refused to move us or refund anything, even though we hadn’t known about the 30-minute window to check the room. They also denied a partial refund and wouldn’t give us a receipt when we checked out. We had to go to a competitor across the freeway for a working toilet and a clean shower. There were roaches and rodent droppings in the continental breakfast area, too.

The room had problems everywhere. The key cards barely worked, and it could take ten tries to get in. The fridge didn’t cool, the TV had no video signal, and the towels were badly stained. The shower was slippery, the A/C was very noisy, and the door didn’t lock properly from inside. Housekeeping barged in without knocking, and bugs kept coming through the huge gap under the door. We’ve traveled all over the country several times, and this place was pretty awful. I can’t understand how it won anything or is rated decently. The owners seem extremely cheap.

The bathrooms were really clean and well kept, and the whole place was clean and quiet. Management was cool, the TVs were updated, and the Wi-Fi was a little better than average. They do have breakfast, though I wasn’t a fan of the breakfast bar. If you like a cold room, you might want to ask for another blanket since the covers are pretty thin. For the price, it’s a very good hotel. You might be surprised.

I had an amazing stay and will definitely come back. The room setup was nice, everything was clean, the restroom was organized and stocked, and the beds were comfortable. The staff or owners on duty were so nice and accommodating. My only small complaint was that the pillows were a little too soft.
