Kandahar Condominiums

The condos are roomy and have nice views, and Brent is helpful with getting settled and finding your way around. Getting to and from the property is the hard part. Even though it's right by the gondola and children's center, you either have to walk down a ski slope, which takes a lot of effort and sometimes ends with a fall in the snow, or take the road, adding at least 10 minutes to every trip. Coming back, you have to make your way over rough ground and icy slopes to reach the back entrance.

The hot tub was disappointing. It's indoors, underwhelming, only worked 1 day out of 4, and isn't open in the mornings when it might have helped with sore legs. The place also didn't seem well managed, and I'd look for somewhere more central if possible. I gave it 2 stars because I liked Taos mountain. This is ski out, but walking back up is long, including 200+ stair steps once you reach the stairs. Kids wouldn't make it. I'd suggest driving up and down and parking. When we arrived during a snowstorm, after flight delays, we had to carry our luggage, skis, and food up the road. Those in the attached photo are our tracks. It was horrible. Our 4WD wouldn't make it up the road after hours, and I guarantee it hadn't been plowed at 5 pm.

The condo walkway lets me put on my skis and head straight onto the hill, which I love. The rooms are nice too, though a bit cramped, and that's why I stopped at 4 stars.

We stayed in 115, which felt homey and was nicely decorated. The accommodations were wonderful, the staff friendly, and everything we needed was there. I'd definitely like to come back.
