This place is hard to describe, it’s so beautiful and secluded. My wife and I are a professional photographer and filmmaker team, and we had an absolute blast there. The owners are wonderful, and the cost was worth every penny. It feels set up like a luxury hotel once you arrive, so it’s wonderfully comfortable. They provide almost everything you might want for fishing, kayaking, and similar activities, so you really just need to bring your own food. The place is only reachable by boat, but the trip from Seward, Alaska isn’t very long, and Seward is fun to explore too. Whether you want a getaway or have a complicated itinerary planned, I’d put it on your list. It’s more than a cool place to visit, it’s life-changing. Don’t think twice, book it now!

We kayaked, paddle boarded, snorkeled, hiked, and searched the tide pools for critters. The access to the water is unreal, and the decks are great spots to watch for wildlife. The yurts were very comfortable. We also took the wildlife tour with Taylor and had a phenomenal time seeing lots of animals up close, including humpback whales. Orca Island gave us a perfect chance to disconnect and unwind from everyday life. We’d stay again in a heartbeat.
The kitchen was fully stocked and had everything we needed, though I wish I’d packed creamer since they provide coffee. We spent a lot of time by the fire, and also snorkeled and hiked to the iron doors. Izzy took us by boat to the trailhead, which was so fun. The staff carried our bags down to the boat and brought them to our cabin before we got to our room, while we were on a tour of the facility. Everyone was extremely friendly from the start. There’s a lot included for the price: kayaks, snorkel gear, private boat rides to trailheads, fishing gear, a well-kept fire pit lookout, attentive staff, and an all-inclusive wildlife boat ride to and from the island. It was worth every penny, and I think you get a lot for the cost. I’ll come back one day. I’ve never felt such peace. Thank you, Orca Island Team, and especially Izzy for making it so enjoyable!
We stayed two nights in a yurt as a family of four, adding a cot for our second child. It was fabulous. We loved the quiet and seclusion, and being off devices. The yurt was comfortable, and we enjoyed the included activities. We kayaked to the waterfall and saw salmon, went on the hike, and fished. The views were beautiful, and we also used the grocery pickup.
A wonderful getaway in the Orca cabin yurts. It’s off the grid, with the quiet and natural beauty all around to enjoy. There’s a nice bay for kayaking, and kayaks are provided. The staff were friendly and helpful. We had an enjoyable meal of grilled black cod cooked on the supplied gas grill.
