Baymont by Wyndham Whitefish

The rooms were clean and looked after, but the whole hotel smelled of marijuana and Fabuloso. My mom is handicapped, and we didn’t know when booking that there was no elevator or other handicap-accessible option, only stairs. After we found out, we asked for a first-floor room and were told none were available. When we said this was a violation of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), staff were extremely rude. Be warned.

I found Baymont by Wyndham Whitefish to be good value for money, with attentive, friendly staff who were always ready to help. The room was decent and cozy, a comfortable place to unwind after a long day, and the location made nearby attractions and amenities easy to reach. Breakfast each morning had a satisfying range of options for different preferences. I’d recommend Baymont to anyone wanting a comfortable, well-located stay with good service at a fair price.

Free laundry for guests was a plus, and breakfast was good, though it could use more variety and decaf coffee. The pool and hot tub were closed, and that wasn’t mentioned on the website. The rooms and AC need attention, though they did refund $100 after we had to switch rooms because the TV and air conditioning didn’t work. When we asked for an ice bucket, the older woman said they didn’t have any and handed us a plastic bag for ice, which we had to put in the bathroom sink. That didn’t seem sanitary. She stayed seated while checking us in, and then said our card had insufficient funds, even though we knew there was enough. We called the 1-800 number and they said the issue was on their end. She suggested trying the card on their machine, and it went through. She had a tattoo on her arm that said June Bug with a bug beside it. At checkout, another woman at the desk was very kind. My husband asked her why there were no ice buckets, and she said they did have them. June Bug just seemed too lazy to get up from her chair. This could be a good hotel if they fixed up the rooms and AC, and retired that June Bug.

The breakfast information is clearly given when you book, so check it before blaming the hotel. I also found the Uber from Amtrak, about $9 plus tip, well worth it. I’m writing this while relaxing in one of the very comfortable beds. The room was spotless and even better than the photos, so housekeeping did a great job. The front desk team was warm and professional, and I felt completely safe traveling alone. The General Manager was very helpful. I’d stay here again, and will.
