Comfort Inn & Suites Spartanburg North

After checking out early, I reported everything to the front desk and showed maintenance the uneven, uncomfortable bed during a walkthrough. Overnight, I developed hives, which I believe were triggered by something in the room. I documented what happened. There was an unpleasant odor in the building, the room had just one bed despite my booking for two people, the towels looked dingy, and there was no soap at the sink. I had meant to book the Comfort Suites near WestGate Mall, but a Priceline booking error put me at the Comfort Inn & Suites on Candlenut Lane in Spartanburg, SC. I later moved to the Comfort Suites near WestGate Mall, and it was a night and day difference: clean, fresh, and what I expected from a hotel. This taught me that hotels under the same brand can be very different. I hope management takes this seriously and improves conditions for future guests.

I booked through Choice Hotels, but the wrong date was entered. Customer service wouldn’t let me change it, so I had to book again. I paid twice for one night, hoping to get a refund for the incorrect booking. I’ve been calling for a week about that refund, but the manager hasn’t answered or replied to my emails. At check-in around 7pm, the woman working was in pajamas, watching a show on her phone, and ignoring my questions. That was completely unprofessional for a $107 room. The place felt like a low-grade motel, and the stay was overpriced with horrible management and front desk service. It was trashy and a waste of money. I’ll never stay here again or tell anyone to spend their money here. Don’t stay if you want your business and money treated like they matter. I’m very disappointed.

The beds were extremely comfortable, the Wi-Fi worked very well, and the price was reasonable for this area. Breakfast was acceptable, around a 6 out of 10, but nothing memorable. I’ve booked several work stays here and would give the experience a 6.5 out of 10. It’s a step up from a typical Best Western, though the property still feels old and dated, and the cleanliness could be better. Staff interactions were adequate, but not exceptional, and more customer service training would help. It’s an okay choice for short work stays, with room to improve.

I’ve stayed here for dance competitions for several years, but the place has gone downhill and I won’t return. The room didn’t feel clean and had a musty smell. Motion-sensor bathroom lights randomly switch off while you’re showering, leaving you in total darkness. That’s a safety hazard. Everything is worn out and shabby.
