We were heading home after visiting family when black ice made the highway feel unsafe, so we got off the road and stayed overnight. Even with no notice, we found a room at a very reasonable price. The staff were warm and asked about our trip, and seemed to care that we were comfortable. I had all three of my little kids with me, including a baby, and we weren't sure we had enough milk for the night. The manager has an infant too and offered to share formula if we ran into an emergency. We didn't end up needing it, but I was truly grateful for such a kind, generous offer. He didn't have to do that. Thank you so much.

We got in late, and the man who checked us in was really nice. The price was fair, the room looked like the photos, and the bed was clean and reasonably comfortable. No bugs, and there was a clean fridge, a microwave, and plenty of TV channels. The shower got nice and hot. The bathroom was mostly clean, with just a bit of dust. We could see the highway from the room, which was kind of fun, and the traffic noise, including trucks, wasn't enough to bother us. The hotel is in a nice spot, with a restaurant next door and laundry on the property. The room took all night to warm up, even though we set the wall heater to 86 as soon as we arrived. Also, the bed made a loud bang every time someone got up, like thunder. Odd, but not a huge deal. One evening we accidentally left our door cards in the room when we went out for dinner. The young woman working then was helpful and friendly when we came back. The staff were nice throughout, check-in went smoothly, and we'd stay again. We came all the way from up north, and the room was fine for the price. I know some people can be really picky in reviews, which is understandable when you're paying for a clean, safe place. We've given some low-rated places a chance and found they weren't so bad. This hotel was much nicer than a few others we've tried, so give it a chance too. If it doesn't suit you, you can always go somewhere else.

Having parking right outside our door was handy, and it helped me feel that the car was safe. It also made it easy to get my small dog in and out, and to help someone who'd had surgery the day before at U of M. The hotel has no hallways, so you go straight in from outside. There was plenty of parking for the rooms in the two-story building. I stayed five nights in all, split between two bookings I made myself: two nights in a spacious queen/queen room, then three in a king room. Both were on the first floor. They'd been remodeled nicely and were clean. I especially liked the hard floors, with no questionable hotel carpet, since it's a pet-friendly place. The family-run staff were friendly and attentive, and the grounds and shared areas were well looked after. Whitmore Lake is a cute town with several places to eat nearby. Getting to downtown Ann Arbor was a quick drive, and easy enough given how much lower the rate was than the outrageous prices in the city. I'd stay here again when I'm in the Ann Arbor area and recommend it to others. Thank you!

The staff were all nice, and the room was clean. Still, the bathroom felt old, the toilet kept running, and the mattress was so hard it felt like sleeping on the floor. Ann Arbor was also much farther than I expected, about a 20 to 35 minute drive.

The staff were friendly and there was hot water, though the bed was only just about sleepable. This works if you’re in town and mainly need somewhere to sleep. Just don’t count on a great shower or a hot breakfast. The morning coffee and orange juice were awful, and the “breakfast option” was a granola bar and muffin. They could at least add some bananas or apples.
