Executive Inn Wichita

The Executive Inn has a charming layout and a warm, small-town country feel, and the price is reasonable. I also appreciated having the no-nonsense refund policies explained. I’ve learned the hard way with hotels around here, so book carefully. A refund isn’t guaranteed, especially when you book through a third party like Priceline or Kayak.

The location worked well, with the highway and shopping nearby and different kinds of food within a couple to five blocks. At night, the view of Eisenhower airport was beautifully lit. My remodeled room smelled nice and seemed well built, and I enjoyed the clean hot tub in the room. The staff were wonderful, housekeeping was thorough, and the price was reasonable.

For one of the cheapest motels around, the rooms are actually quite nice and clean, and the staff were friendly. The first room had no heat. The person at the office said to give it about 20 minutes, though I know these heaters don’t work that way. He came to check about five minutes later and promptly moved us. The heater in that room didn’t work either, but there was a portable one that kept it warm. The tub was cracked, heavily marked, and had a sign saying “showers only,” so it looked nasty.

I’d recommend driving east and staying at Red Roof Plus at Armour and 54, even though it’s a ways from the airport. It’s $71 and has an indoor pool, with polite, decent people and clean rooms. You can leave your gun in the truck there, they’re cool about it. This place isn’t a good choice for families or young kids. It’s one of those kinds of establishments, if you know what I mean.
