Hilton Garden Inn Wichita

The owner, Omar, removed the coffee, and the buffet was offensive. They carefully measure the scoop so you don't get a full egg, even though it's a manned buffet. My TV never worked, and there was vomit staining in the tub. No one picked up the hall trash for three nights, and all the doors slam shut loudly. Housekeeping lets dozens of doors slam. Omar's wife knocked on my door at 7:50 a.m., probably to flip the room. There was just one employee working at night. Marci said she'd send points, but never did. The employees have their pitch down to lying for the owner. The desk gave a great pitch, but I'm disgusted with the place. Cheap soap, too. Other Hilton Garden locations have lobby coffee, and I called another HH site that was corporate owned. This one is franchise owned, not Hilton Corp owned. Book only at a corporate owned hotel. You've been warned.

The view of the lake from our window was the nicest feature, but I wouldn't choose this hotel again. The beds weren't comfortable, breakfast cost $15 per person, and there was no hot water when I tried to shower. I called the front desk and a maintenance man was sent. He said he'd be right back but never returned. At checkout, I told the desk there was still no hot water in our room. She said he'd told her it just needed to fill back up. I know this isn't a five star hotel, but at $120 a night I should at least be able to take a hot shower. The hotel itself was pretty basic.

The location was fantastic, with shops and places to eat nearby, and the lake was a nice touch. Staff were friendly, and the rooms were decent. Some metal door frames were rusty and corroded, so the rooms could use an update, but otherwise they were passable. I'd stay here again on my next business trip.

The area is nice, with plenty of food choices and nicer buildings and shops, but I was disappointed by the hotel, especially for a Hilton property. It feels run down and needs renovation. The room wasn't well maintained: the bathtub caulking was stained, and rust came out of the pipe when I first turned on the shower. The phone system advertises a bar and grill, but there's only a buffet breakfast with limited options. There's no bar and grill and no room service. It seems like this hotel has seen its time.
