Red Roof Inn & Conference Center Wichita Airport

We paid $62, which is a good price and hard to find under $100, but I guess you get what you pay for. I reserved a courtyard room and ended up on the second floor looking out over tables and chairs. Pool signs are still up, though there is no pool. There were long black hairs in the bathroom corners near the toilet, and my towel was stained and looked dirty.

The accessible room worked well for me as a wheelchair user. It had a wide door, plenty of space, a comfortable bed, and a sturdy shower bench with a showerhead I could reach. RedRoof delivered! It's also about five minutes from the airport, just off interstate 236 and Kellogg, with main roads nearby for getting around town. The reason for four stars instead of five is the coffee in the room was only OK, and there was no breakfast at all. I didn't realize some motels were doing that. Don't expect breakfast.

I booked online at 9:30 p.m. while traveling. The booking message said late reservations might get moved to the next day or canceled, and told me to call. Someone answered and put me on hold for 12 minutes without greeting me or giving me a chance to explain. When I finally described the issue, he put me on hold again for several more minutes. The customer service wasn't good. The TV had no sound, the bathroom door wouldn't close all the way, the tub dripped, and there was a huge, wet, nasty brown spot that looked like it could give you an infection or require a tetanus shot. The fire alarm went off at 10 and again at 10:30 a.m. Maybe that was to get people out by the 11 a.m. checkout. The $65 wasn't worth the 8.5 hours I spent there. It's been days and I still haven't received my $100 deposit back on my card, and I'm having trouble reaching anyone about it.

We were there about three weeks and had a great experience. The beds were comfortable, with lots of pillows, the water pressure in the shower was good, and both the front desk and maid staff were very friendly. There was fresh coffee with flavored creamer each morning, and an airport shuttle if you need one. I'd recommend it for a short or long stay. I just wish one of the two restaurants on the property were still open. Hopefully they'll bring one back. There are plenty of places to eat nearby, though, including a Super Walmart and Sam's Club.
