They billed my card $230.82 for a room quoted at $80. The check-in person had explained there would be a $50 incident deposit, refundable in 7-10 business days if paid by card, or the next morning if paid in cash. I chose the card. At checkout, a Spanish-speaking woman said the front desk wouldn’t open until 3 p.m. and wouldn’t give me a receipt. She just kept saying bye. If I’d paid the deposit in cash, how would I ever have gotten it back? The room was filthy and torn up, with trash under and around the bed when I checked for bedbugs. The lights and TV didn’t work. I couldn’t get a ground-floor room, there was no elevator, the outside entrance doors didn’t lock, and there was no lighting outdoors. I’ve stayed in a lot of lousy motels, but this was the worst. I’d sleep in my car before staying here again. I can’t believe Choice Hotels would allow a place like this in its chain.

We paid a reasonable price for Friday night, but arriving at 1 a.m. meant waiting about ten minutes for the front desk person to wake up and come down. All the room doors were open when we got there. We were told the carpets had been cleaned, but the rooms and hallway smelled awful. We asked for checkout at noon, yet housekeeping started banging on our door at 9 a.m. to ask when we were leaving. There weren’t enough towels for two people, so bring your own if you want to dry off in the morning.

Bedbugs were everywhere, even in the lobby furniture. The person on duty offered us a different room, but it seemed clear the whole place had them. They also charged two $50 deposits and would only refund one. Choice Hotels basically told me they couldn’t do anything. I had to throw away items, take everything to a laundromat at 4 a.m. to heat it, and shower at a truck stop. I had an appointment at 7 a.m., and by the time the laundry was done there was no time to find another hotel or sleep. I asked to be reimbursed for that. There also seemed to be drug activity, with people walking around at all hours. This place is run down and extremely dirty. Don’t stay here unless you want bedbugs.

We had to switch rooms because the first one was disgusting and clearly hadn’t been cleaned. The toilet was dirty, and the staff were rude. The “breakfast” was a few moldy bananas and three oranges, first come, first served. The doors didn’t work, and my room had no light bulbs. The front desk said someone had stolen them. They don’t give refunds either. If you need somewhere cheap and clean while traveling, this isn’t it. This place is a joke.
