Wichita's Sunrise inn & Suites

The room had holes in the drywall, and there were stains on the towels. When I asked for extra ones, the front desk guy told me to shower in the morning because he was doing laundry, so I made do with one of the smaller towels. The water was either really hot or kind of really hot. I came out freshly boiled, and the bathroom sink had barely any water pressure. The mattress was badly sunken where people had sat on the edge, and it didn’t seem like they planned to replace it. Not a comfortable stay. It felt a bit ghetto, no offense to poor folks. Only go if you really can’t pay more, though I’d honestly look for a nicer motel. The room door swings into a wall, and I jammed my hand in it. This place sucks.

The room smelled like mold, mildew, and old sheets. The decor was either hideous or nonexistent, the phone was broken, and the TV didn’t work. When I called the number I found on Google about the TV, the person hung up and wouldn’t answer again. I ended up sleeping on what may be the worst mattress I’ve ever had, with no television in that musty room. Please don’t waste your money here. At check-in, nobody was at the desk. A note told me to call a number, but it wouldn’t let me leave a message. A very rude employee finally showed up ten minutes later, just as I was about to call corporate and ask what was going on. I stayed there once, trying to save a little money, and it was a big mistake.

I had booked a room months ahead for a planned Wichita visit and got both a confirmation email and a “can’t wait to see you” email two days before I was due to arrive. I was about to call with a question when I saw the place listed as temporarily closed in a search for its number. I couldn’t reach anyone the morning I left, and had a bad feeling something was wrong. After half an hour I finally got through to Red Roof reservations. They’d only just been notified on Oct 8 that the site was closed. Nobody had contacted me about it, so I had to find another hotel the morning of my five-hour drive. I’ll never stay at a Red Roof again.

We booked the jetted tub loft room for two nights at $590, but left right away and got a refund. The building looked trashy from outside, with a van in the parking lot that had broken windows and flat tires. The staff seemed sketchy at check-in. Inside, it was 100 degrees. We turned the air conditioners down, then noticed dead bugs all over the place. The tub was dirty and gross, there was a large sticky spot on the floor, and the ceiling looked disgusting. The desk gave us a bag of snacks, which we returned on our way out. Just get a room at a Holiday Inn. This place is a bad joke.
