Coratel Suites

For what we paid, I wasn't expecting anything fancy, but I've stayed in plenty of budget motels and this one made them look like the Ritz. I wouldn't recommend it unless you have no other choice, though maybe it could be charming if it were maintained and represented honestly. I'm sharing photos so people know what to expect. The room was spacious but dated: the fridge barely worked, the microwave plate kept falling, the bathroom door trapped me inside, and the hide-a-bed couch didn't feel safe to sit on. It was very hot when we arrived because they'd switched off the AC between guests. Housekeeping cleaned during our two-night stay, which I hadn't expected, and they were friendly. The linens smelled clean but were stained, and the towels were pool towels rather than proper bath linens. Breakfast was Pop-Tarts, Nutri-Grain bars, coffee, and a waffle maker, with a sign saying to take only one item. That's nowhere near a real continental breakfast. The pool couldn't be used and was half full of dirty water. The elevator looked nice but scared our dogs. Staff seemed afraid of dogs, even service animals. There were no waste bags or designated potty area, and the grassy patch was full of painful stickers, or sand spurs. My dogs and I both stepped on them. If your dog barks, staff will tell you “shh.” The balcony railings were loose and unsafe, so don't let kids lean on them. Staff were hit or miss, and the front desk wasn't welcoming, when anyone was there at all.

The room switch only helped a little. The place was filthy, with grimy carpet underfoot and furniture that looked dirty and felt slimy. They gave us coffee and cups but no coffee maker, and the tub spigot was coming out of the wall. The room types also felt like a bait and switch.

I attended a gathering here. The room looked clean, and the hotel is right off Kellogg Ave, a major road through Wichita.

Just perfect.
