We were moved the next morning after I gave the staff a chance to deal with the room problems. To their credit, the new room was clean and everything worked satisfactorily. The AC was noisy and smelled when first switched on, but settled after running for a bit. The beds were comfortable, and once we moved, the room was clean and quiet. The hotel's location near downtown and the Century II convention center was outstanding, and we had no safety issues despite the sketchy neighborhood. There were lots of people walking around who seemed unhoused, and I was asked for money more than once. The first room had a door that wouldn't close securely without a lot of effort, dried chunks of something on the wall by the bed, food left in the fridge, and a slow shower drain that left several inches of standing water. They texted to ask if they could help, but it took over an hour to respond, and they only dealt with the food in the refrigerator. From our interactions over the four-night stay, it seemed the hotel wasn't staffed adequately overnight. The property felt a little run down, with wear marks on the furniture, walls, and elevators. It was listed as a 3-star hotel, but I think it's a very good TWO-star place. The price reflected the quality, and at two stars it would have met expectations. Breakfast was standard but exactly the same every day. Propane space heaters left the lobby with a weird exhaust smell. Housekeeping didn't come at all during our stay. I don't know whether that was intentional, since no policy was listed, but we ran out of toilet paper and toiletries. It would have been nice to have the room restocked at least once in four nights.

The staff were friendly and helpful, the limited breakfast was pretty good, and the bed was comfortable with clean bedding. But we had two rooms, one for me and my partner and another for my sister and her son. Their room turned out to be the better one. Ours was on the second floor but smelled like a dank basement. The curtains showed clear water damage, the tub faucet leaked, the bathroom light was broken, and the TV had no channels. Air freshener only covered the smell for about an hour. I've stayed in run-down places that at least looked that way from the outside. This one looked nice, which made the disappointment worse. My sister's mold allergies are now kicking her add, and we still have seven hours of driving today. It's okay for a quick overnight, but I wouldn't stay longer than needed.

The convenient location near local attractions was a plus, and the room stayed clean, quiet, and well maintained during my visit. Staff welcomed me and made sure I had what I needed. I had a comfortable, enjoyable stay and thought it was good value for a pleasant visit.

The online check-in made arrival quicker. The guy at check-in was just okay, not rude but not friendly either, and I didn't need anything from the front desk. We slept in, so we didn't try breakfast. The hotel is dated, though you can see they've been making upgrades. For the price, it was definitely nicer than I expected from the other reviews.

The room was clean and smelled good, and the shower water was just right. It's close to downtown Wichita, with a gas station right across the street. The rooms are very cheap for a clean hotel, so it was well worth the price. Great experience, and I'd definitely stay again.
