Pier Point

The location was great, and I’d consider giving the place another try. I stayed during the last week of October 2025, and we had to switch rooms three times because housekeeping hadn’t prepared them. The owner or manager eventually upgraded us to a suite. In the fall, the room got cold quickly since there was no heater, and the hot water ran out while I was showering in the morning. Maybe service was poor because we visited in the off-season, but I’ll see how it goes next time.

Steve, the new owner of Pier Point, checked in with us during the stay to see if we needed anything. He’s clearly putting a lot of work into improving the motel, and I’m looking forward to seeing what he does next. My family had two rooms, one for the adults and one for the small children. The beds have been upgraded to queens and were very comfortable. Staff were helpful and friendly, and even though the motel is next to the boardwalk, our rooms stayed quiet. It was also nice that the other guests were all families. Steve’s doing a great job.

The staff were quick to respond and very helpful, and texting them made it easy to ask for things during our four-night family stay in one of the Pier Point Suites. We liked being right in the middle of things, just steps from the boardwalk and beach. The walk across the beach to the water is long, though. You can hear the amusement rides, but once they close for the night, things get quiet. The room had some problems that made me unsure about returning. There was black mold on the shower tiles and grout, plus one ceiling tile. The air conditioner was dusty, as if it hadn’t been cleaned in years, and it was only in the bedroom with the two queen beds. With the bedroom door closed, the kitchenette and living area got hot. There also wasn’t anywhere to hang towels, not even a hand towel. A couple of hooks on the bathroom door would help. Towels kept falling out of the wall cutout unless it was packed full, which made it hard to keep clean towels clean. I know this is a new venture for the location, and the problems might be limited to the type of room we booked. I’d consider staying again if the cleaning and improvements are addressed. I hope this feedback helps someone else have a better stay, and I wish them the best.

The patio with tables and a grill was a nice place to have our morning coffee. The pool was just the right size for a smaller hotel, and the rooms were clean with the essentials. Boardwalk and beach access were easy, and our questions were answered and handled right away. Parking is tight, but it’s included and worked out fine for us. We’d happily stay again.
