The Woodlands

The staff were very helpful, and the view from the stream-side rooms is lovely. But room upkeep was poor: shower problems, holes in the curtains and towels, and messy bathroom grouting. There were pieces of wallpaper stapled together, too. Breakfast isn’t included anymore unless you book through a third party, and even then, I’d double-check.

We left and stayed at the Holiday Inn nearby. It was much nicer and cost less, though we didn’t get our money back from the Woodland Inn and Resort. We had booked two rooms while traveling in Pennsylvania with our son and daughter-in-law. When we arrived, the place was dark and seemed neither updated nor properly cleaned. Air fresheners and small fans were set around the building, but the smell was like sewage. We dropped off our bags and went to lunch, then came back about three hours later. One room smelled so strongly of an old, wet odor that I couldn’t stand inside it, and I started coughing uncontrollably. The desk clerk understood and said she’d ask the manager about a refund. I heard her tell the person on the phone, “It has happened again.” The manager offered to reimburse one night, not both. We were stunned. There had apparently been flooding, and the whole place was in bad shape, with dirty carpets, a dirty pool area, and ceilings falling down. They knew it wasn’t fit to rent but kept our money. The website photos are extremely misleading. This is an old, dirty, stinky place that isn’t kept up. See the photos of the falling ceiling. The Woodland Inn and Resort should be ashamed of the property and its policy.

The creek-view room was nice, and the man handling the free breakfast did a great job. Getting to the buffet meant walking down a long hallway and dealing with several stairs, so this place isn’t great for someone with mobility problems. The room itself had been repaired poorly, with a square of wallpaper stapled over a patch. The floors and shower need anti-slip strips. My mother-in-law was with us, and those issues mattered.

Our wedding at The Woodlands in August was beautiful, and nearly all of us, including my husband and me, stayed there. Guests and family had nothing but good things to say about their stay. Having everything on site made it so convenient, and everyone had a wonderful time. People kept asking how we found the place. Crecenzos and Shogun were amazing restaurants, and we’ll all visit again. I’m so grateful to the staff for making our stay pleasant. Kaiti (sales coordinator) and Amy (banquet manager) made the wedding magnificent, down to every detail. They helped make our dream day come true, and it went off without a hitch. I wish we could live that day over and over. We can’t wait to come back and relive that magical moment. Thank you, The Woodlands!🩷
