Ramada by Wyndham Williams/Grand Canyon Area

The price was great, and the location, staff, and room were all better than satisfactory. We had a good overnight stay and would come back. The only hiccup was that the pool was too cold.

The staff were friendly, professional, and quick, and checking in online is a good way to save time at arrival. The hotel itself was a decent place to stay, but three things disappointed us. The hot tub was out of order, even though it was one of the main reasons we chose the hotel. There was no free breakfast. An adjacent steakhouse is an option, but we would just as soon eat at the McDonald's across the street or head into town for one of the excellent breakfasts at the small local restaurants. Also, about two thirds of the TV channels didn't work.

Getting around was easy from here, with the train and Bearizona both very close by. The building is older, but it was clean and looked well cared for, and its age gave it some character. We slept comfortably, partly because the room temperature was just right. The mattress was about what you'd expect, but we still slept well. The curtains kept most of the light out, though I had to clip them together in the middle. The shower head was frustrating: whenever I tried to change its setting, the whole thing spun instead.

I trusted the name when I booked and unfortunately didn't read the reviews first. We walked into a room with hair on the bathroom floor and crusted mess on the microwave door. It looked old and run down, with tattered curtains and stained carpet. For what we paid, I expected at least a clean room, but it was obvious at a glance that it hadn't been cleaned properly. I couldn't even feel sure the bedsheets had been cleaned. We left that night.
