Budget Inn

Trash was piled outside, the pool was empty, and roaches were all over the bathroom. There were no fire alarms on the property. When I asked the manager, he said there was no fire, so what was the problem. It’s not up to code. There were no bulbs in the fixture, the furniture was in rough shape, and it looked nothing like the pictures. I’d give zero stars if I could.

The room itself was fine, but I came back to find the cleaners had left my door open. Nothing was missing, but I was understandably upset. The front desk sent a representative to hear my complaint, but they offered no compensation for the inconvenience. He kept saying, “I’m sorry,” and seemed to act as if he couldn’t speak English. I knew he could, since he understood and spoke without trouble until I asked about compensation. The cleaners had also failed to leave soap, for the second time. My issue was with the service.

It’s an older motel and the amenities aren’t the best, though there is a pool. The owner is a friend of mine and a wonderful lady. You’re seconds from downtown Colonial Williamsburg and only minutes from one of the state’s largest outlet malls. I’d stay here if I needed inexpensive lodging in central Williamsburg.

NEGATIVE STARS!!!! My boyfriend, our daughter, and I checked into room 112 at the Budget Inn Williamsburg, 800 Capitol Landing Road, Williamsburg, VA 23185, at about 6:30 pm on Friday, March 3rd. We left to take my boyfriend to the hospital because he was feeling ill, then got back around midnight and went to sleep. We’d stayed for a week in room 112 at the Rodeway Inn off Merrimac Trail before this with no problems. My daughter and I woke up first. When I sat on the edge of the bed to give my boyfriend his medication, I saw a small round brownish-blackish-reddish bug, about the size of a sharpened pencil lead, crawling under the pillowcase toward his head. I caught it and took it to the front desk. The woman agreed to refund me and squished the bug, showing a lot of blood. Back in the room, I lifted the mattress and found another bug of the same color, smaller, about the size of a large pen tip. I accidentally squished it while trying to catch it, and there was more blood. I packed our things and went back to the office for my money. I also told them the refrigerator didn’t work and had ruined all our food. The front desk woman said she’d spoken to her pest control person, who said a bug couldn’t get that big from just one person overnight. She implied it came from me, charged me for the night, and said she hadn’t rented that room since September. I told her I was upset about having to pay for a laundromat and detail my car to make sure our belongings didn’t have bugs. She replied that they’d had to do the same thing the last time the inspector was “Herr,” which I thought was odd. I called the sheriff’s department, and they said it was strictly a civil case and there was nothing they could do.
