The Woodrose

The room was surprisingly quiet, even though the motel was full over Valentine’s Day weekend. The bed was one of the best I’ve slept on in years, the room was clean, and the shower had plenty of hot water. Raj explained that they’d paid extra attention to soundproofing, which matters to me because noise has been a major complaint at other places. He was a really nice guy, and the office was clean and well decorated. From outside, I nearly missed the place and thought it looked like a typical 1960s motel with fresh paint. I’ve been coming to Willits since 1970, and most motels along the road into town haven’t changed much. My brother, who lives here, suggested The Woodrose because it had just been renovated. The favorable Google reviews and reasonable price convinced me to book two nights. At first I almost didn’t want to write this because I’d like to keep the hidden gem to myself, but I want the place to succeed and get credit for its hard work.

From the outside, this small-town place might look bad, especially if you’re used to the big hotel chains I’ve stayed at. But the rooms were awesome and extremely clean. I really enjoyed it. The front desk was professional, and check-in took less than a minute. Great experience.

Raj texted recommendations for places to eat and things to do, then checked in to see if we needed anything. He was kind without being intrusive. We stayed four nights after an 11-hour drive from So Cal and were met with a warm welcome and a spacious room, much bigger than I expected from the pictures. It had two very comfortable queen beds, a dining area, desk, and mini kitchen with a mini fridge, microwave, Nespresso machine, and kettle. I travel often and appreciate wood floors, and slippers were provided. The room was spotless and cleaned daily. You can tell they take pride in giving guests a good experience. The location worked perfectly for exploring the Redwoods and the Fort Bragg coast. With the comfortable room and excellent service, I highly recommend it.

We came with two other families, and all of us had a great stay at The Woodrose. The renovations give the rooms a fun boutique hotel feel, and they were spotless and smelled fresh when we arrived. The staff were amazing, helpful, and attentive. We’d happily stay again when we return to Willits. Thank you!
