Howard Johnson by Wyndham Wilmington

The reviews don't do this place justice. It's an older motel and parking is limited, but the people went out of their way to take care of us while I was down here working with my dump truck. I&A have stepped out of their way to help us. The rooms were very clean and the property has been updated, though I don't know when. It's clearly well looked after, and the managers are straightforward. The manager always checked whether we needed anything or wanted something. If you need a good place to stay in Wilmington, North Carolina, I'd check it out.

It's easy to find whatever you need just a few steps from the door, and the location is quiet. I had a very enjoyable stay, with great customer service. This is a good place to stay when you're in Wilmington, NC. Wyndham rewards members should check it out!

The room was decent and the bed was okay, but the floors were sticky and disgusting. They only provided two towels and one bar of soap, so ask for more amenities. At 9 on Sunday they told us breakfast was closed, and it isn't a full breakfast anyway, just a few items like cereal. Honestly, I won't return. If you need a cheap place to stay, it may be okay enough.

I paid $180 for a few hours of sleep around 11 p.m., but this dump isn't worth $50. The bedding was filthy, the plumbing made nonstop noise, and even with ocean sounds blasting from my phone to cover it, I couldn't sleep. In the morning I asked for water and got nothing, not even for purchase. The receptionist just said, “no water.” When I raised my voice a little, he appeared with two bottles in under a minute. I asked where they'd come from, and he casually said his aunt, who apparently lives behind reception, gave them to him. What kind of operation is this? Don't bother with breakfast, it's a complete joke. Avoid this place at all costs.
