We’ll use this hotel again if we need to stay in the area. The people who own and run it were warm and welcoming, and the front office staff went out of their way to help us feel comfortable, find the lowest rate, and handle our other needs. The rooms were beautiful and clean for such competitive pricing in central Wilmington. I also appreciated that the first pet stays free, which is unusual among chain hotels, and the deposit was much lower than at others. I don’t understand the low rating; I think it should be at least 4.8. Their work to keep guests safe and comfortable really shows. Signing up on the app earns points toward future stays, and I found it worthwhile. Thanks, Red Roof hotel!

We paid right around $300 for two rooms, two nights and three dogs, and the price was great. The location was very good, the rooms were clean, and the staff were friendly. The only drawback was that the shower water didn’t get very hot. Besides that, it was worth staying here.

After two trouble-free nights as a paying guest, I planned to stay a third night, but was thrown out in the rain and threatened with police. The room door had jammed because a small piece of metal was stuck inside; it wasn’t locked. When a pizza driver arrived, the door wouldn’t open. The night staff tried other keys, but that couldn’t fix a mechanical obstruction. We had to push the door until it opened, or call the fire department. This was plainly a maintenance problem. In the morning another manager blamed me, saying, “you just couldn’t wait on them to bring keys to get your pizza.” That was demonstrably false and insulting. More keys would not have fixed a jammed door that wasn’t locked. She gave me ten minutes to leave, kept talking over me and disregarded what had happened. She also called me “a local” because I’m from Southport, which is 50 miles away, as if people from the region don’t need hotel rooms. I was mocked, discriminated against and treated disrespectfully over their broken lock. The manager was dismissive and completely unprofessional. I wouldn’t recommend staying while she works there, and I plan to pursue every avenue to seek reprimand for this treatment.

The staff were very friendly at check-in and checkout, and they accommodated an emergency at midnight, which we appreciated. The room itself had cleanliness issues: stains on the bed, hair on the floor and pillows that were turning yellow.
