Birchcliff Resort

The grounds were peaceful, and we liked the activities and fire pit. Inside the cabin, though, the stay went badly. My fiancée and I were in a hurry to get to a wedding when we arrived, so we didn't inspect everything until we came back around 10:30 PM. Then we found several blood stains on a pillowcase left on the bed. My fiancée felt so uncomfortable she wanted to leave, but the office was shut and there was nobody to ask about another room or a refund. We also couldn't get the heat to warm the room, and the cabin grew colder through the night. The kitchen sink had no running water, the floors felt sticky, and there was no hand soap, body soap, or shampoo. Dish soap was available, which made the lack of basic toiletries even more frustrating. We spent most of the night uncomfortable, then packed up and left at about 6:30 AM. For what we paid, I expected cleaner, better maintained accommodations. The blood on the pillowcase especially made me question the housekeeping. We would have raised these problems with someone if the office had been open when we got back, but it was closed then and again when we left in the morning. I have emailed twice and called twice without hearing back from Birchcliff Resort. I hope management responds about a possible resolution or refund.

The Lodge felt a little dated, but that didn't bother us. With 14 of us there, we had a great time catching up by the fire. Wendi and the staff were amazing.

The location made it easy to spend plenty of time on Broadway, while still giving us a quiet, nature filled setting away from the bustle. We had a great time and would happily stay again, especially for the price and what the cabin and property offer. Wendy, the office manager, handled our late arrival really well. The store has a good selection and lots of movies, and it was handy to get a text from a real person before the stay so we could ask questions, share our arrival time, and discuss special accommodations.

Wendy was such a help with anything we needed, and the goats were fun to watch. The donkey was adorable too. We had a great vacation, loved the pool, and spent the whole day at the beach after a short hike. The final stretch down to the beach is a steep, rocky climb, but I managed it fine as a senior. Our cabin was just right for us, a bit rustic, but we were camping after all. I highly recommend BirchCliff Resort!
