Quality Inn and Suites

The transitional housing situation wasn’t a problem for us, and the people and staff were very nice. The hotel itself, though, badly needs better housekeeping and a lot of money spent fixing it up. It was filthy, with live and dead bugs, a window that wouldn’t lock, and a dingy look that felt unnerving. I read reviews before booking and was honestly shocked by how bad it was. We paid $197 for one night, which felt ridiculous for what we got. I wouldn’t pay over $120. We’d just spent three nights in Chicago at a gorgeous hotel by the river for $155 a night, so the price here is hard to understand. This place needs a lot of time and money to become halfway decent. Please trust me, spend whatever you have to, even though I know hotels are already expensive, and find somewhere else.

My mom’s stay at the Quality Inn was uncomfortable and felt unsafe, and I wouldn’t recommend it. If it’s the only place available, I’d consider sleeping in the car or rescheduling. There were homeless people outside the lobby, which was unwelcoming and seemed like a possible safety concern. The double queen room wasn’t clean or maintained well, smelled unpleasant, and had dirty towels. The worst incident was in the bathroom: the shower rod wasn’t secured properly, fell, and hit my aunt. We reported it to management, but they gave no incident report and didn’t seem to take it seriously.

Belinda was calm and helpful when an unfortunate situation came up, and she upgraded my room to make things easier. There’s lots of parking, and a large plaza right next door has one of our favorite Mexican restaurants. My suite was spacious and nice, and the jacuzzi tub was really relaxing. There was a bit of smoke smell in the room, which bothered my girlfriend a little.

We paid 213$ for a Saturday night and left after only two hours. Never again. The hotel had been used as a shelter for homeless people, and most of them were still there. The area around it was dark, with broken lights. The administrator gave us the wrong room number, and we spent 30 minutes trying to get into the wrong room. The carpet was dirty throughout, the sofa bed was very old, torn, and dirty, and there was a poorly repaired hole in the bedroom door. The kitchen was dirty too. The room and bathroom were okay, the sheets and towels were clean, and there was no smell. We were too shocked to take photos.
