Holiday Inn Express & Suites Wyomissing by IHG

The employees were wonderful, and we enjoyed the hot breakfast. The hotel was clean, but it’s old and clearly needs renovation. The bathrooms are tiny, too.

The hotel was a peaceful base, close enough to landmarks, shops, and cultural spots by a short walk or drive. I could explore or just relax there. The restaurant was a highlight, with excellent food, creative cocktails, and an elegant setting. The pool was calm and well kept, the fitness center had what I needed, and the spa gave me one of the most relaxing massages I’ve had. My balcony had a beautiful view and was a lovely place for morning coffee. Inside, the room was spotless, thoughtfully designed, and very comfortable, with plush robes, quality toiletries, crisp linens, and a handwritten welcome note. The bed felt like a cloud. Check-in was easy and welcoming. The front desk offered complimentary refreshments and useful tips on local attractions and restaurants. Everyone I met was friendly, professional, and happy to help without hovering. I left feeling refreshed and pampered, already thinking about coming back. It felt like more than a place to sleep, and I’d happily recommend it to anyone looking for comfort, luxury, and warm service.

For what we paid, it was a good stay, and we’d probably come back if we were nearby. We arrived on a Saturday night in late June 2025 during a huge rainstorm. Since we were the only ones checking in, there was plenty of space to unload at the entrance. Room 218 was a standard room with two queen beds. It had more open floor space than it needed, while the bathroom was cramped enough that you couldn’t open the door while sitting on the toilet. The clean shower had a nice sliding glass door. There was a mini fridge in a small cabinet by the front door and a tiny microwave, but the extra space could have been used for storage or a table and chairs. Lighting was average, with no light over the bed, only one by the closet, and just two wall hooks for hangers. The desk lamp pointed both up and down. The TV had standard channels and worked fine. The kids got a little time in the pool, though it seemed crowded when we arrived and I forgot to take pictures. The gym was bigger than at most Holiday Inns we’ve stayed at. There was a lobby market with snacks and drinks, and I think frozen dinners and ice cream as well. Breakfast was typical for Holiday Inn Express, but the eating area was smaller than usual and nearly every table was taken. Lots of things were missing from the yogurt and milk fridge. The rest of the food was good and got replenished now and then. They had the new touchscreen coffee machines, though my wife says the coffee still doesn’t taste great.

The room was in excellent shape and comfortable, and the hotel was clean with a pleasant smell. My main frustration was the early morning noise from housekeeping. One housekeeper was very kind, but the team knocked loudly, talked loudly, and ran vacuums while I was trying to sleep after working nights. Check-in around 6 p.m. took more than half an hour, which felt excessive, and the receptionist who helped me had a strong “herbal” odor. Breakfast was hit or miss: some days the serving pots were empty, though when the male attendant was there, there was plenty of delicious food. The morning front desk gentleman was especially friendly and helpful. His service was impeccable, and he deserves recognition and a raise.
