Bali Hai Motel

The location wasn't the best, but the motel itself was great for where it is. The owners and staff were polite and kept checking that I was comfortable. My room was roomy and very clean, and I slept right through the night on a comfortable bed. It stayed quiet the whole time, too. The cable was great to have at night, and the air conditioning worked well through the high-90s heat. I highly recommend it.

We left as soon as we found black mold in the bathroom and saw that there were no smoke detectors in the room. We'll be trying to get our money back. There were shattered tiles with nasty gunk behind them, and cigarette burns everywhere. When we tried to get help at the front office, staff were yelling incoherently across the parking lot. The area and the place both felt shady. At the cheaper price, you're risking mold exposure and potentially burning to death in your sleep. This was completely inhospitable and should be shut down for major health and safety violations.

For $85, I expected working heat and hot water. The room was far from sanitary, and it wasn't a restful night before work the next morning. I also couldn't get an employee to check the room so I could retrieve my $20 deposit. I tried at 5 a.m. and came back at 9.

They warned me the room might not meet my standards based on my appearance, but I found management polite and was given a good room with a new bathroom and carpets. The owners are a mom-and-pop operation, working hard to clean the place up and do well. I even asked to see a room being renovated and was impressed. I'd suggest checking the room before renting, just to be safe. I agree with the reviews below, and I've had worse experiences myself. I was in Yakima recently when there seemed to be some event on and all the major motels were booked. I chose Bali Hai because it was the only hotel that looked well lit and safe. They're renovating the whole property, so give them a chance.
