Rodeway Inn

I've been to almost every state, and this was the worst hotel I've ever been to. It was dirty, outdated, scary, and smelly. On the top floor, the windows had no screens and wouldn't lock. People were in the parking lot at all hours of the night. The online room pictures are misleading and false advertising. This hotel doesn't meet the minimum standards for a “Choice” hotel. I've always trusted Choice Hotels, but now I'll question them all. I'll never stay here again and wouldn't recommend it to anyone.

The staff were rude, and after we arrived they canceled our reservation even though we'd paid in advance through Priceline. They gave the rooms to people paying their ridiculous $180-a-night rate for a place that isn't even worth one free night. I wouldn't bring my family here. The environment felt very scary. This run-down, nasty place is in a rough part of town. Air conditioners were falling out of windows, and blankets belonging to people living there hung in windows. The pictures show nothing like what the place actually looks like.

The room was filthy, with stained sheets and hair on them, and it smelled bad. The halls and room were dim, and I felt unsafe. The furniture was worn and mismatched, like it came from a thrift store or maybe a dumpster. The listed “amenities” certainly didn't include a spa or sauna, ha! The photos and description seemed wildly inaccurate, and probably very old. This is a terrible motel, even for a cheap one. Honestly, you'd be better off sleeping in your car. It seems like the sort of place rented by the hour or week. I booked through Priceline and had to fight both them and the desk staff to cancel and get a refund. The employee was polite enough, but seemed under a lot of pressure to avoid refunds. It's hard to see why anyone wouldn't pay $5-10 more to stay somewhere else.

I booked a same-night stay on the Choice Hotels website, but when I arrived at 1 a.m., the woman at the desk said there were no rooms. I had so many questions about how that could happen, but I was tired and disappointed, and didn't have the energy to push back. I asked if I'd be charged or could get a refund. She just told me to contact the website. I explained that I'd booked through the Choice Hotels website, and she repeated that I should contact the website. She wasn't helpful or sympathetic.
