Hampton Inn & Suites Newtown

The buffet breakfast was wonderful and had a lot to choose from. Staff kept the food plentiful and the eating area clean. The rooms were clean too, and everyone was welcoming. There’s plenty of parking close by, and Dunkin is an easy walk across the way, though it was closed for renovations during my stay. I liked the cozy feel, especially the fireplace right when you come in. Really a great place to stay.

We picked this place mainly because of the price after seeing a show in New Hope. The beds were comfortable, the rooms were clean, and the staff were friendly. Breakfast was good, waffles included, and there were lots of tables. The area was clean, and staff stayed on top of keeping food available and helping when needed. Coffee and tea were available all day and night, with the pots refilled every four hours. The parking lots were well lit, so we felt safe.

The front desk staff were very nice and helpful, and the one-bedroom suite itself was okay. But the bathroom was in awful shape: mold and rust in the shower, with holes all over it, as shown in the pictures. I’ve seen gas station bathrooms in much better condition. I’m a Hilton Diamond member, and the Hilton brand hotels in Newtown seem to share the same issue, they need serious TLC.

We were there for a wedding, and other people in our group said their rooms smelled the same as ours. There was a mold and mildew smell, and you could see signs of it in the corners and on the ceiling. When we told the front desk person, they offered “room spray,” which clearly wouldn’t fix it. The cold-air diffusers in the common areas and hallways also seem meant to cover up all kinds of smells. Anyone sensitive to fragrance should stay away. I wouldn’t recommend this hotel to anyone.
