Candlewood Suites New York City-Times Square by IHG

The location is great, and I booked the room through Airbnb for about 120. I found out why the price was that low: one of the two elevators was out of service, and reliable sources said it had been that way for quite some time. The elevator situation is bad for everyone. The room TV only picked up a cable network with Showtime, and it definitely wasn't HD. A Roku or similar device would make more sense these days than cable. You might be able to park nearby, but financially it doesn't make sense. You'll need the subway, which means a five block walk in whatever weather you're dealing with.

We picked this hotel for the kitchenette so we could make breakfast and cook meals. It was fully equipped, with cookware in good condition and two of each serving item. The dishwasher was a nice bonus, as was the strong fan over the stove. The queen bed was comfortable with good pillows, and I really appreciated the duvet. The AC unit heated the room satisfactorily. Sleep was disrupted every night around midnight by people going to and from the Housekeeping room opposite our door, with no regard for the noise. The property has two elevators. One was out for our entire six night stay, and the other broke down on our second evening, leaving us to walk up 28 floors because of the service window. It was fixed before morning, but there were always lines for the elevators. The location isn't the greatest, being close to Port Authority Bus Terminal, but Broadway is nearby and easy to walk to for shows. It's also close to the express bus to and from EWR.

A small kitchen in the room made the stay more convenient, and there were tea and coffee stations for guests in front of reception. The rooms were cleaned daily, with fresh towels each time. Staff were pleasant, friendly, and helpful the whole visit. The hotel's location in New York City was perfect for getting around and exploring. Very comfortable and enjoyable. I'd recommend it and will be back, thanks for a great stay 🇺🇸.

I was stranded in Manhattan during the February 2026 blizzard while working as an essential worker, and this place fit my budget. The room was roomy and had a FULL kitchen, which you don't see many of anymore, especially in Manhattan. There's also a little lobby convenience section with snacks and microwave food. One elevator was out, so there could be a bit of a wait for the other one, though never more than 5 minutes. I couldn't get the WiFi to connect. Even so, I give it five stars and definitely recommend it to other travelers.
