MainStay Suites North - Central York

We were disappointed by the dirty sheets, and neither the telephone nor the TV worked. The man at the front desk was very nice, though. When the guests in the room above us got so loud they woke us, he handled the issue and was very kind.

Victoria at the front desk is amazing. She keeps things on track and is so pleasant. Fran from housekeeping is wonderful too. It's rare to leave the room without seeing someone cleaning from the lobby through all four floors. We can ask for fresh linens anytime, and housekeeping can be scheduled at the desk to fit your plans. Even when Fran was running late because they were packed, she came in and cleaned around us, and sweetly tucked our son into bed. They're both “Mousekeeping” level staff, like the people at the theme parks we visit in Orlando for 2+ weeks each year. We travel a lot. We're two weeks into a month-long stay while our house is being remodeled, and we're very happy here. The hotel is very clean and smells nice.

It's a small hotel without much charm, though the room was clean and fine, as was the bathroom. What bothered me was the TV: there's no channel guide, so you have no idea what's on or what channel you're watching. The front desk clerk had no answer.

The staff were all very nice, and the beds and bedding were comfortable, but the room wasn't clean and had an odd smell. I'm a clean freak when I stay somewhere, and the pictures below speak for themselves. The kitchenette surfaces all had fingerprints, and the bathroom floor was sticky, hopefully just from cleaning product. When I asked, they promptly brought a new comforter and extra towels. Still, during the six times I passed the front desk, nobody was there; a sign said they were helping other guests. I could have called, but wanted to speak face to face and show the pictures. I planned to raise it at checkout, but overheard another woman telling them something was unacceptable, so I left instead. Thankfully, we didn't need to spend much time in the room. Otherwise I would have switched hotels. I won't stay here again.
